The Supreme Court decided Monday that a court order finding Texas hospitals cannot federally be required to provide pregnancy terminations when they violate a state abortion ban will stay for now.

The ban will resume while the court considers an appeal to a decision that had briefly restored greater access to abortions in the state.

The ruling lets stand a Fifth Circuit ruling stating that hospitals never have to terminate pregnancies, including when a patient faces risk of death.
