Dwight Howard Scammed Out of Millions in Fake Atlanta Dream Purchase
A Georgia businessman, Calvin Darden Jr., was convicted on Friday in New York City for defrauding former NBA star Dwight Howard out of $7 million in a scam involving the purchase of the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream.
Dwight Howard thought he was buying the Atlanta Dream. Instead, he was being scammed out of $7 million.
Prosecutors said Calvin Darden Jr. also fooled Chandler Parsons, who had a 9-year NBA career, into sending $1 million that was supposed to aid the development of James Wiseman.
