The Los Angeles Kings’ worst nightmare is a date with the Edmonton Oilers in the first round of the playoffs. The Kings have gone out this way in three consecutive seasons and had hoped this year would be different.

At the 2 p.m. EST waiver deadline, the Los Angeles Kings placed three players on waivers. The following players were placed on waivers for the purpose of re-assigning to the Ontario Reign of the AHL:

By the numbers, the Kings’ top pair won’t stack up to playoff caliber with Clarke in Doughty’s place. But maybe with a stout partner such as Anderson, who has a team-high plus-6 Defensive Rating, their complementary skills will push them to outperform expectations.
